🔗 Share this article Manchester United Set to Secure German Forward Lea Schüller away from the Bavarian Giants Manchester United are finalising completing the signing for prolific Germany forward Lea Schüller in a permanent move away from Bayern Munich. A Major Acquisition for the WSL Side Schüller, who has six months left on her deal, has been a consistent goalscorer for both club and country. She has scored more than 100 goals for the German giants and scored 54 times in 82 appearances for her country. This signing is viewed as a marquee signing for the WSL team. Departure from Bayern was expected since she appeared to be fighting back tears while applauding the German club’s fans after a win over Bayer Leverkusen this month. It was reported in late December that the Frauen-Bundesliga was losing one of its leading forwards. According to reports, all the paperwork for the transfer have now been completed. Consistent Goal Threat to Strengthen United's Attack The experienced striker's signing is expected to provide a major uplift to United’s forward line. She has been remarkably reliable with her finishing in Germany’s top flight. For seven straight seasons, up to and including the last term, she reached at least a double-figures tally of league goals. She claimed the Golden Boot in 2021-22 season with a haul of 16 goals. Building Momentum at Carrington Securing the German international comes at a time when United appear to be gathering positive momentum. Their recent on-pitch successes include securing a place in the Champions League knockout phase playoffs as a seeded team and a victory in the League Cup quarter-finals. Off the pitch, the mid-season window has seen additional business: The signing of Sweden defender Hanna Lundkvist on a multi-year deal. The contract extension for Japanese playmaker Hinata Miyazawa, a popular figure since joining in 2023. On Miyazawa’s new deal, a senior figure stated: “She has become a critical part to the way we play. Her footballing intelligence and skill enables her and the team to dominate play from the middle of the park.” The new defender, having joined from a side from the NWSL, said: “You can feel how much the club have grown in the last few years, competing in one of the strongest leagues in the world and performing in the top European competition.”
