Arne Slot Asserts He Feels Secure and Has Liverpool's Backing After PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was natural for concerns to be raised about his future after another heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in twelve games, representing the team's worst streak after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a tough night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I've received plenty of support from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to change things and get a victory naturally but if you are coaching a team and struggling then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I am OK with my position. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Club Management

When asked to expand on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and for me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “Through standard exchanges I sense the belief. But I haven’t spoken to them since this match so far so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Problems and Player Reaction

Slot highlighted known weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, specifically wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more direct in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It is unacceptable. I don't have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He added, “It’s hard because I play for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a phase of this nature with results this poor.”

He concluded, “However we still have the emblem on our chest. And until it is removed, we’re always going to compete.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad return to where it needs to be, prove once more what this club is about and why people call it the greatest side in the planet.”

“However currently, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
