A Patriotic Palette and Historic Logo

The fresh design showcases a patriotic palette to echo the Union Flag and will be applied on rolling stock, at railway stations, and across its website and app.

Significantly, the symbol is the distinctive double-arrow symbol historically used by National Rail and originally introduced in the 1960s for the former state operator.

A Introduction Timeline

The implementation of the branding, which was developed in-house, is expected to occur gradually.

Travellers are expected to begin spotting the freshly-liveried services across the national network from the coming spring.

In December, the design will be displayed at major stations, such as Leeds City.

The Journey to Renationalisation

The legislation, which will enable the establishment of Great British Railways, is presently moving through the House of Commons.

The government has stated it is bringing back into public ownership the railways so the service is "run by the public, delivering for the public, not for private shareholders."

Great British Railways will bring the operation of train services and tracks and signals under a unified structure.

The government has stated it will combine 17 various bodies and "eliminate the frustrating red tape and poor accountability that continues to plague the railways."

Digital Services and Current Ownership

The rollout of Great British Railways will also involve a comprehensive app, which will allow customers to view timetables and purchase tickets free from additional fees.

Passengers with disabilities users will also be have the option to use the application to book help.

Multiple operators had already been nationalised under the previous administration, such as Southeastern.

There are currently 7 train operators now in state ownership, accounting for about a one-third of rail travel.

In the past year, South Western Railway have been nationalised, with additional operators anticipated to be added in the coming years.

Ministerial and Sector Response

"This is not simply a cosmetic change," stated the relevant minister. It signifies "a transformed service, casting off the problems of the past and dedicated completely on providing a reliable service for the public."

Industry figures have responded positively to the pledge to enhancing the passenger experience.

"We will continue to work closely with all stakeholders to facilitate a successful transition to Great British Railways," a senior figure noted.
